When I reflect on the year that is now coming to a close the phrase that arises to describe it is “quiet changes”. This is certainly true for me, obviously true for my partner, Ayala, and a consistent description given by most of the online group participants. The phrase “profound changes” could also be used because the quiet changes have also been very significant. In my own case, and by my observation of many others, these changes have put in place a foundation and opened up new possibilities for a significantly different kind of future.
Creating and maintaining a study group is a difficult, but rewarding undertaking. The chance to develop ourselves while at the same time being able to serve and enrich the lives of others, whether they are our students, comrades or teachers, is both a challenge and a blessing. Everything, from the tiniest insects under our feet to the universe of galaxies above our heads, "all must 'eat' to live and nourish one another". That is to say, we all must take in various kinds of 'food', including knowledge and understanding, and in turn become 'food' for something higher.
